DINING AT CHRISTMAS

At the SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS FAIR 2003

This year graduates of KLC courses presented festive roomsets with the theme Dining At Christmas -  

Christmas Eve Dinner is sumptuous and glamorous in shades of white, taupe, gold and silver offset by sparkling crystal. The eye-catching centre piece of the room is a wonderful chandelier, complemented by shimmering fabrics for the curtains and tablecloth. In true Christmas spirit the focal point of the room will be the fireplace, evoking the warmth and excitement of the night before Christmas. Tina Weaver is a graduate of the Interior Design & Decoration Diploma 1996-1997.

Christmas Day Lunch. Decorated in warm reds, gold and copper this roomset evokes a feeling of Italy in the 1950's. Different textures from the sumptuous mohair fabric to the polished brass of the enormous fireplace all add character, along with the original vintage pieces, such as the stunning 50's chandelier. The round dark elm table and dining chairs commissioned by the designer make sure that the whole family can sit down to a stylish but cosy Christmas lunch. Juliette Nieuwland is a graduate of the Part-Time Certificate Course in Interior Decoration.

Boxing Day Brunch suggests traditional outdoor pursuits as an antidote to the over-indulgences of the Festive Season. The room set is inspired by the relaxed, chalet-style homes of Marianne's Swedish relations, and is a mixture of traditional and contemporary design with a feeling of warmth provided by the colours and the cosy stove. Marianne Walter-Meaby is a graduate of KLC's Open Learning Diploma in Interior Design & Decoration.
