Diploma Course Café Project
The latest project for the students on the one year Diploma Course in Interior Design & Decoration was the complete re-design of Matts Café, which is based on the ground floor of the Chelsea Harbour Design Centre. The brief for the project was to create an exciting, design-focused Café that would be seen to be offering all the qualities of the West End and appeal to the discerning members of our industry!
Students had to devise a timetable, create concepts, select a name for the Café, put together lighting suggestions, sample boards, two point perspective drawing and signage - all working towards a tight deadline. The presentation was attended by the Managing Director of Chelsea Harbour Management and four designs (Gemme Burdett, Louise Holt, Emma Oldham and Nimrat Simra) were shortlisted for a further presentation to the Directors of the Harbour. They were bowled over by the high standard of the work and the winner will be announced at our Annual Awards Ceremony. There is also an exciting opportunity for the winning student to see their design come to fruition!
The next project on the Diploma in Interior Design & Decoration Course will be a penthouse in Miami, which will be their final project.
The final project on the Diploma in Garden Design Course will be the gardens of a 17th Century House near Hastings with views to the sea. The students will make their presentation at the Savile Row Gallery.
