Nia Morris has been listed by House & Garden as one of the “100 Leading Interior Designers” (April 2006).
Nia was previously a City lawyer before training in interior design at KLC. Since formally launching her company last year, she has wasted no time in accruing an impressively high volume of commissions. Clients are clearly attracted by her relaxed, modern approach: “I put together eclectic modern interiors that don’t look too perfect,” she says. She is currently masterminding the redecoration of an Arts & Crafts manor house in Henley, two family houses in Notting Hill, a barn conversion in Cornwall and a mews house in Lancaster Gate. Although her emphasis is on the modern and the quirky, she is eminently sensible too, “My spaces are for living in, and practical space planning is an important part of the design process". IDFX March 2006 edition included an editorial announcing that they had “scoured the country for the hottest young interior designers around” and two of their list were KLC graduates!
Helen Smith set up her own interior design company, only three years after graduating from KLC. She did her student work experience at Joanna Wood’s company, and then worked there until 2005. Her company is based in Hove. As a result of the roomset she designed as part of the KLC stands at the House & Garden Fair 2005, she has been commissioned by a Russian client to work on a contemporary penthouse on the South Coast and Thirties’ house in Suffolk. www.helensmithdesign.com

Marianne Walter-Meaby set up TWM Designs with Amanda-Jane Talbot, who she first met when they were working as interior designers at the Todhunter Earle design practice. Eighteen months ago, after five years of working on mostly residential projects, they decided to set up their own practice, and have been working on a range of projects in the UK and abroad, including Japan, Cape Town and Miami, ever since.
