The most glamorous headboard in the recent Savoir Beds International Design Grand Prix was announced on 24th November. Congratulations to KLC Diploma Graduate Louise Corser for a glamorous pared-back design inspired by Japanese plum blossom. She chose a metallic linen, to give a subtle sheen. Philippa Clark, of the FT How to spend it and also a judge, remarked that Louise proposed ‘A sophisticated and elegant design which could suit various bedroom schemes’.

“We understand the importance of nurturing and supporting design talent, which is why we launched this annual competition” said Alistair Hughes, MD of Savoir Beds. “The Design Grand Prix give us the opportunity to work with a number of talented individuals and design schools on an international scale.”
For this year the theme was “glamour”. Designers entered an electronic/digital mood board with the best designs voted for by leading designers and editors in an open vote. The design brief was for a Headboard 180cm wide, fabric upholstered and between 60cm and 120cm above mattress level with no visible wooden or metal trim. Each entry was presented in 4 landscape pages and included the following:
(a) Inspiration - images which suggest the direction of the design project
(b) Front elevation - dimensioned
(c) Isometric / 3D representation - dimensioned
(d) Fabrics / materials to be used
