Hotelympia Awards 2012

KLC News • 2 March, 2012

KLC’s Principal, Jenny Gibbs, was one of the judges for the inaugural Hotelympia Design Award, in association with GS Magazine. “Given the size and grandiose nature of Hotelympia it made sense that the show should have its own awards” said Stirling Johnstone, Editor of GS Magazine.  The awards focus on design excellence in hotel suites, looking for the ultimate in luxury: the very best a hotel can offer the paying guest.

The awards had six judges who worked in pairs and Jenny Gibbs was teamed with Michael Attenborough, Design Director of Raddison Edwardian Hotels.  “Everything was superbly organised and the carefully prepared questionnaire really made us pay attention to design detail and function and to focus on what constitutes real luxury for hotel clients these days,” said Jenny.  There was a shortlist of three finalists from the numerous entries from some of the most well-known and prestigious four and five star hotels in the UK.  The winner was The Royal Suite, Mandarin Oriental Hotel, London, to whom Jenny presented the award on 27 February.  Congratulations from everyone at KLC School of Design.
