Hampton Court Flower Show 2012

KLC News • 15 June, 2012

Three of our alumni wowed the panel and were awarded £6,000 each to create their inspirational conceptual gardens. The aim of this category is to stimulate thought, shock, tantalise and amuse visitors – we’ll let you be the judge!

Jo Hanslip’s creation ‘Free Fall’ can be seen at site TH68. This conceptual garden showcases, via a large linked water feature, the 5 stages of individual emotional response to ‘loss and failure’ – shock, fear, shame, anger and despair

Matthew Child’s ‘Light at the End of the Tunnel’ conceptual garden is about hope and recovery and is inspired by his own experiences. His aim is to take visitors on a journey and this is achieved by clearly narrating the transition from darkness to light with chosen plants and materials. This garden can be seen at site TH70
From distance or above, Anoushka Feiler's ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water' (site GW5) show garden is shaped like a giant plaster over a gaping wound. On closer inspection, a large desolate pool of water, with swirling whirlpools is bridged by a bright feathery explosion of exuberant planting
