KLC Graduation Ceremony held at the RIBA
KLC News • Jul 2009
“Beautiful venue, impressive presenters and terrific organisation – I felt buoyed on a tide of infectious enthusiasm.” Stroud Cornock KLC Educational Consultant
This year the Graduation Ceremony was held at the RIBA in its prestigious headquarters in Portland Place. First designed in the 1930s by George Grey Wornum featuring decorated bronze doors, sculpted figures, etched glass screens and wooden panelling, there could hardly be a more appropriate setting. From the moment the graduating students filed in to the theatre to tumultuous applause, the scene was set for celebration.

There were cheers for our guest speaker Sue Timney who had done so much to help and support the students throughout the year. Once again the industry support and generosity made this event particularly special, with Awards given by top designers such as Nina Campbell, Mary Fox Linton, Gordon Lindsay, Matt Carlisle of Candy & Candy and Gail Taylor of Taylor Howes. There were also Awards from professional bodies, design publications and leading design suppliers while retail was represented by Heals.

One of the highlights of the evening was the Project Awards and the encouraging and constructive comments made by presenters such as Justin van Breda and Michael Grey of the Hyatt Group meant so much to the graduates.

The Reception in the magnificent Florence Hall provided the perfect way to round off the evening and to bring another successful Diploma course to a close.
