Ronald Brooklyn-Fuhres

Name:            Ronald Brooklyn-Fuhres
Nationality:    Dutch
Course:          Full Time Certificate Interior Design

What was your professional background prior to KLC?

I am a Chartered Management Accountant and have a Bachelor Degree in Hospitality Management from the Hotelschool in The Hague, Netherlands. For the last 20 years I have been working in Finance Operations for various large American Luxury hotel chains with responsibilities in the Middle East, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Central Europe and Eastern Europe.

When you were looking for courses, what was it about this course that appealed to you?

The three month, full time timescale really suited me. KLC’s network of industry contacts is very important as well. Besides that it was really clear from the Open Day that there is a great family atmosphere at the school, something that existed with my previous employers and appeals to me.

How does the course fit around your lifestyle?

Whilst being fast-paced, the course is also very manageable and gives a great opportunity to learn a broad range of skills in a short time.

What are you enjoying most about the course?

Learning the various CAD programs has given my designs another dimension and allowed me to push myself further. Working on a live project with a real client was also invaluable. Last but not least the new friends I have made amongst fellow students and lecturers, the various backgrounds, nationalities and ages really add to the course.

Where do you look for inspiration?

The last place I visited. Pretty much everywhere you can find something that can inspire or at a minimum you see something you don’t like which is good as well, as long as you know why.
