Interior Design: The Essentials
Intensive introduction for students wanting an overview of the subject for their own home projects or for students considering a career in this area
During the week students will be given a fascinating insight into the whole process of interior design and will gain confidence to make decisions on their personal projects.
The approach is practical with a combination of lectures and workshops, advice on how to plan a room layout and how to create a cohesive interior scheme by developing ideas from a basic concept to a finished presentation board. There will be inspirational lectures, as well as talks on colour and texture, decorative lighting, and accessories. Emphasis will be placed on how to achieve a successful decorative scheme with effective use of colour and texture to a given brief. Students will have the opportunity to put together their own sample board and will be shown how to do this in a professional way. There will also be an opportunity for questions and answers during a forum at the end of the week.
The syllabus includes:
- The design process
- Developing a scheme
- Planning a space
- Colour and texture
- Decorative lighting
- Sample board project
Refreshments and a delicious light lunch will be provided on the first day of the course.
