KLC would like to congratulate Garden Diploma Alumnus, Matthew Childs, for achieving a Gold Medal, ‘Best in Show’ and ‘Best in Construction’ at the 2018 RHS Hampton Court Flower Show. His award winning Show Garden is called “The B&Q Bursting Busy Lizzie Garden”.

This garden is aimed at those wanting to create entertaining and relaxing spaces in their garden whilst using affordable products in unique and creative ways. Busy Lizzie’s are the star of the garden, which has been inspired by how the plant’s seed heads burst open.

Matthew Childs has a high reputation at creating successful show gardens having previously won a Gold medal and ‘Best Conceptual Garden’ at the 2012 RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, Gold medal and ‘Best in Show’ for his 2013 Ecover Hampton Court Garden and in 2014 was awarded a silver-gilt medal for his Main Avenue garden for Brewin Dolphin at the 2014 Chelsea Flower Show. Take a look at his previous award winning gardens here!

Matt shared his excitement about this year’s success to his twitter followers exclaiming, “Oh my gosh! Best in show! Over the moon! Thank you so much to all the team who worked so hard on this Garden – Living Landscapes, Humaira Ikram and all our volunteers!!!”

Showing true appreciation for his hardworking team, Matt expressed his thanks “Loved working with this amazing bunch of people who have gone the extra mile on the B&Q Bursting Busy Lizzie Garden. Thank you all so much!”

KLC Students at the 2018 RHS Hampton Court Flower Show

KLC’s current Garden Diploma students were given ‘behind-the-scenes' access to the build-up of the Flower Show. This provides a fantastic opportunity for our students to network, gain expert tips and feel prepared for the garden industry.

A big thank you to Ann Marie Powell, Matthew Childs, Rosy Hardy, James SinclairRosebank Landscapes and Hampton Court Palace representatives Joseph, Hannah and Anna for taking the time out of their busy day to speak to KLC students. It was greatly appreciated and very informative.

Well done to RHS Hampton Court Flower Show for putting on yet another fantastic event, we look forward to the next!
