KLC Connect Designer Evening at Waterworks 2020

KLC connect is an initiative which aims at introducing and connecting students to the interior design community. Launched in 2017, KLC Connect is designed to facilitate the transition from studying to employment. During these events, students have the chance to meet and talk with interior designers, industry experts and suppliers.

The first KLC Connect event of 2020 was generously being hosted by the wonderful Waterworks at their beautiful showroom at 579-581 Kings Rd, London SW6 2DY.

KLC Connect’s Designer Evening at Waterworks was a great opportunity to meet leading designers from a variety of areas of design to gain an insight into their work and the qualities they look for in employees and to hear how they view the future of the industry.

Senior designers attended to represent the following companies -

SHH Architecture & Interior Design, Hirsch Bedner Associates, Elicyon,

Rabih Hage Architects & Designers, Gunter & Co Interiors, Justin Van Breda, Steph Hill Designs, Maison AD, Studio Indigo, Albion Nord, Meraki Design, Colefax & Fowler,

Kelly Hoppen Interiors, Winch Design, Nick Auston Design and Dargie Lewis Designs

The evening was a great success and as thoroughly enjoyed by all. Students that attended this inspiring event had the following to share about their experiences:

‘I absolutely enjoyed the event at Waterworks last Thursday. It’s great that KLC organises such events. These types of events are important to gain a better understanding of how to make the transition from school into the industry. It was interesting to get to know interior designers personally and to get some insider tips on how to get your foot in the door of interior design studios.’

‘I have gained more clarity about the reality of the industry and what potential future employers are looking for. I also loved discovering new practices/designers and their approach to design. I believe these events are important to start creating networks of professionals in the industry and get insights into the profession itself.’

‘Waterworks was sensational.  All the interior designers were so so nice. I couldn't believe that the industry was so kind and thoughtful, being so willing to spend their free time and sharing their thoughts with us.  They were all hugely encouraging, whatever stage in life we were at and we hope to see them at our show in June. These events are great because they remind me that signing up to KLC was the right thing to do.  That I can change my future, and it will be very exciting. Albeit it involves a lot of hard work!’

We look forward to more successful KLC Connect events that continuously works towards preparing our students for their professional careers in the interior design industry.

Thank you to all involved in this event, we look forward to the next!
