KLC Online Certificate student wins Vero Fabrics Design Competition

Published:

During the Design Week at Chelsea Harbour, Vero Fabrics ran a textile design competition that KLC shared with its students. The competition would provide the winner with the exciting opportunity to see their design converted to woven fabric, and to visit their mill to see it in production.

Vero Fabrics are a high-end fabric brand, distributed by Holland & Sherry in Chelsea Harbour. Their luxurious silk and silk mix fabrics are woven by a heritage mill in Suffolk. They also cater to Contract projects with a Trevira collection. You can see more of what they do here!

Vero Fabrics believes that creating a bespoke fabric unique to you and your client is the ultimate luxury and as the world becomes a more homogenous place we need to nurture and protect the diversity, skill and craftsmanship developed over many years in the weaving and textiles industry.

All entrants were given the opportunity to translate their own ideas into a unique Jacquard woven fabric. It could be in any style from the abstract to the geometric and anything in between.

KLC would like to congratulate current online student, Isabel Di Stasio, who was announced as the winner of the Vero Fabrics Textile Design Competition with her winning design named ‘Massura’. Isabel is currently studying on the KLC Online Certificate Residential Interior Design.

Isabel’s winning design was selected by Vero Fabrics Design Director, Ottilie Stevenson, and artist, Rob Wyn Yates, together with a small exclusive panel of Judges at Chelsea Harbour.

Her design inspiration was drawn from the intense colours, flavours and oriental scents that she wanted to capture whilst strolling through the narrow streets of a busy Moroccan bazaar. Vero Fabrics will now work with her on the textures and yarns to be used in the final fabric, their initial thoughts are soft wools with a shot of ochre silk.

Isabel shared her thoughts when she found out she had won:

I did not expect to win this competition. My aim was to gain some more experience and to explore new ways for my own creativity in this process. So, I was completely overwhelmed and indescribably happy when I found out! I am really thankful for this opportunity and looking forward to collaborating with such brilliant designers!

The KLC Online Certificate Course is an amazing way of studying at a distance. I very much enjoy the professionality and dedication they put into this format. At the same time, they provide plenty of opportunities that complement the studies in a practical way. Plus everyone at KLC is so friendly and cooperative, I am glad to be part of it!”

Vero Fabrics will be showcasing the woven fabric made into a beautiful curtain by Downers Design in the Holland and Sherry showroom and this design will be available to bespoke colour.

Congratulations, Isabel. Best of luck as you continue your online studies with KLC.
