KLC 2020, 2021 & 2022 Graduates receive a big industry welcome as they celebrate!
KLC's Graduation and Awards Ceremony 2022 was hosted at the Chelsea Harbour Hotel on 14 July.
Students, tutors and a whole host of design industry professionals, as well as family and friends, attended the ceremony to celebrate the achievements of 2020, 2021 and 2022 interior design graduates from Onsite and Online BA Hons Interior Design Degree, Onsite and Online Foundation Degree Interior Design, Full Time and Part Time Diploma HE Applied Interior Design and BA (Hons) Top-up Interior Design.
These graduating students have faced many challenges completing their studies throughout the pandemic. KLC is exceptionally proud of all the dedication, commitment and hard work that has gone into each student's exhibition.
The Graduation ceremony was opened by Alex Barron, Chief Executive of West Dean College of Arts & Conservation, which now includes KLC as its new School of Design, who opened proceedings and welcomed Sara Cosgrove, Creative & Managing Director of Sara Cosgrove Studio as this year's special guest. It was a great inspiration to have a KLC Alumni share her professional journey, the opportunities she has had since graduating, and the career she has built since graduating in 2005.
Handing over the KLC baton
This inspiring account was followed by giving awards and handing out degrees and diplomas, which outgoing Principal Jenny Gibbs OBE and outgoing Director of Studies Diana McKnight introduced. As part of their introductions, there was a poignant moment as the 'KLC baton' was handed over to West Dean College Principal Francine Norris and the new Head of School of Design, Geoffrey Makstutis. It was also fortunate that Geoffrey was in attendance, as he kindly stepped in and presented the RIBA Award for Design Drawing (as a member of RIBA) when the RIBA representative was sadly unable to attend.
The great and the good of the interior design industry all joined the evening to welcome and embrace KLC's new graduates.
KLC has always been incredibly proud and grateful for the strong industry links created over the past 40 years. It provides our students with incredible industry experience throughout their studies to feel confident about their professional careers once they graduate. At the 2022 ceremony, we welcomed many notable industry guests, from leading designers to representatives of professional bodies and the media, to present the Industry and Group Project Awards to students. All award presenters were blown away by the sheer amount of hard work, creativity, and inspiration in evidence.
The celebration continued at Design Centre Chelsea Harbour in the Centre Dome with champagne, cocktails and canapes as industry guests, tutors and graduates all mixed and networked the night away.
It is always a bitter-sweet farewell; however, KLC strives to keep in touch with all of our graduates throughout their interior design careers.
Congratulations to all KLC Graduates from the class of 2020, 2021 and 2022!
KLC's 40th Anniversary Alumni Celebration
The evening before, KLC held a fabulous party for all KLC Alumni in Design Centre Chelsea Harbour to celebrate 40 years of KLC and all of our outstanding alumni. They continue to represent us through their outstanding achievements and innovative projects. All enjoyed cocktails, champagne and canapes while friends reconnected and celebrated KLC's accomplishments over the years!
