KLC would like to congratulate Online Certificate Residential Interior Design Student, Monica Gounaropoulos, on being selected as a Grand Designs Finalist for the "Working from Home Project" and exhibiting at the Live 2022 Event.

Monica Gounaropoulos

With an inherent passion for interiors, Monica has always known this is the industry for her. With her love of light, colours, textures and finishes, she puts her soul into every project and always aims to excite and exceed expectations.

With a strong business background afforded by her previous 15+ year career in Healthcare PR, Monica has founded Spiti and Soul Interior Design Company. ‘Spiti’ means house in Greek – a nod to her heritage. And ‘Soul’ because she really puts her heart and soul into home design!

Grand Designs Live, an event which has established itself as the UK’s leading consumer show for self-build and design, showcasing the latest innovation for the home, launched their 2022 "Working from Home Project" competition for budding professional Interior Designers. This year the competition explores ‘The multi-functional home office' and all the ways to make your home office the perfect work environment for you. More houses are creating a space for a home office, but they seem to be a struggle to dedicate a whole room to so making it multi-functional can solve all the problems.

The Design Concept and Submission:

Well done to Monica who's submission was shortlisted and selected to exhibit at the event. Monica's described her design concept as the following;

'When creating a multifunctional home office within an existing room, I wanted a usable space which can also be enjoyed to the max once work has finished! My ‘discrete’ concept incorporates solutions to conceal work items once you've clocked off for the day, leaving a beautiful focal point for the room which can be enjoyed and relaxed in. Adopts an 'Out of sight, out of mind' approach to visually help separate work from home life. Colour palette chosen: blue = productivity; orange = mood lifter.'
