Alumnus, Kate Aslangul, receives International Design and Architecture Award!
KLC would like to congratulate Kate Aslangul from Oakley Moore for being awarded the huge accolade of winning Best Living Space - Europe at the International Design and Architecture Awards in a field of prestigious designers from 48 countries. A fantastic result for Oakley Moore from nearly 87,000 votes cast from all over the globe.
The awards are run by Design et Al, and are the largest of their kind based in the U.K to recognise excellence in the industry, to recognise designers pushing the boundaries of design.
KLC asked Kate what she felt led to Oakley Moore being shortlisted and winning this award.
Kate responded, “This project stands out from the crowd due to its international appeal, relevance to the clients’ brief and the fact that we delivered a unique home with personality reflecting the personalities of the owners. The project was the full refurbishment of a Town House in Paris and the clients were a Franco/American couple, he being a French Architect and she is an American academic.
Rather than watching television they host musical soirees and listen to opera or sit and read – the conservatory, fireside seating and double height library were designed for their way of living and entertaining. The design brief was to deliver a home which would sit appropriately within the turn of the century (20th) Parisian architecture, reflecting the anglophile Bostonian childhood of our client with the feel of an English boutique hotel.”
Kate believes her studies at KLC provided her with the tools to professionalise her practice, working through from concept to completion whilst working her NLP training into her own design practice.
