Bhavin Taylor: Winner of The Evening Standard Home Design Awards 2019
We are extremely thrilled to announce that Bhavin Taylor has won The Evening Standard’s first ever Home Design Awards for his bold and geometric-inspired designs in the Living Room Category for his renovation of the Wandsworth Town Apartment in London.
The apartment showcases how a ‘white bo x’ can be turned into a comfortable home that is packed with colour, pattern and style. Each space has its own strong personality but still flows from room to room, turning a characterless apartment to one that is bursting with personality.
As quoted in The Evening Standard’s newspaper issued on Friday 5th July 2019, the judges called the winning work “Dramatic living space, calming kitchen beyond” as well as a “Great shout-out for wallpaper” and a “Clever use of high street brands.”
As for Bhavin, he says “Love colour, embrace pattern. Be bold and go by your gut. Ignore what people say – this is for you.”
With an overall of 10 winners, Home Design Awards featured five categories: Living room, Bedroom, Kitchen, Bathroom and Garden. Only two winners were chosen in each category, one from among The Evening Standard’s reader homeowners and the other from professional entrants which included architects, interior designers and influencers.
The judging itself took place in the spacious Lecture Room and Library at über-glam Sketch London restaurant. This Grade II-listed townhouse in Mayfair was designed by Scottish architect James Wyatt in 1779.
Winners were also able to enjoy luxury hotel-style bed linen from Tielle Love Luxury, worth £550; a sleek Bose Home Speaker 500, worth £400, and a £50 voucher to spend in the Lecture Room and Library, Sketch London’s luxurious two Michelin-star dining room.
Having graduated KLC in 2009 with a Certificate in Interior and Design, we are proud to add Bhavin to our roster of students who have achieved spectacular results!
