Three KLC Graduates Win at Homes & Gardens Awards
Growing on the prestigious annual fabric and wallpaper awards, Homes & Gardens launched a fabulous 17 category-strong Design Awards as part of its landmark Centenary year. These awards are a celebration of all things design. Entries were judged by a panel of industry experts including Kit Kemp, Barbara Chandler and Beata Heuman.
KLC is delighted to announce that three of our talented graduates have won Homes & Gardens Design Awards. Founder of KLC, Jenny Gibbs, was in attendance and shared her thoughts, "So excited and proud to discover that three of the “Homes & Gardens” award winners studied at KLC, either for interior or garden design. Their fantastic project work which was featured at the celebration last night, said it all”
They winning graduates are:
‘Interior Designer, Mover and Shaker’ Award – Thurstan (James Waterworth)
Thurstan is an interior design and antiques firm founded by James Thurstan Waterworth. At its core lies the sense that heritage buildings, pieces of furniture, and objects have a story to tell, and that this should be embraced.
James began his career at Martin Brudnizki, where he set up the New York studio and worked on Soho House Miami, a project that led him to become European Design Director at Soho House. Here, his projects included houses in Istanbul, Barcelona, and London, where there was a strong focus on comfort and practicality, and being true to the origins and history of a building. He’s worked and lived in LA, New York, London, Hong Kong, and Barcelona, designing multiple private residences as well as one-off commercial projects winning multiple international awards.
‘Best Residential Design’ Award – Turner Pocock (Emma Pocock)
Project: Stratford Studios
Turner Pocock is a London based interior design agency with an international portfolio of both residential and commercial projects. Set up by Bunny Turner and Emma Pocock in 2007, Turner Pocock has grown to a team of 15 including project managers, interior architects and designers. Turner Pocock have received significant recognition from the Design world, including: House and Garden Top 100 since 2012, winners of The International Design & Architecture Awards 2017, The Sunday Times Top 30, Country and Town House Finest 50 Interior Designers. They are members of the BIID.
‘Best Garden’ Award – Bestique (Anoushka Feiler)
Project: Old Rectory, Northamptonshire
Bestique is a multiple award winning garden design studio combining strong conceptual design ideas with a sense of style that transcends into truly inspirational 21st century outdoor spaces.
‘Anoushka is best known for her beautiful and distinctive 21st century design ideas, winning awards including RHS Gold, Best in Show and Peoples choice. A Master’s Degree in Geography from Cambridge University and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Horticulture and Garden Design from the renowned KLC school of design, she blends her understanding of the relationship between people and place with an expert knowledge of horticulture and a unique design eye; creating pleasure gardens which never cease to delight.’
