Q. What was your background before KLC?
A. I’ve been living in Rome my whole life, I studied economics at first and then worked for a company creating creative contents for the website and the blog, writing articles, and posting contents on the Facebook page. But I never even considered design as a potential profession.
Q. Why did you decide to study Interior Design?
A. One day I came to London to a friend of mine’s house and helped her with a project without having never seen anything like that. It was a pop-up space project and as soon as I started to think at ways to express the concept she created, my mind was running free generating ideas, and there I understood that that’s what I want to do in my life.
Q. Tell us about your experience of the course?
A. I always listen to myself and have faith in everything that happens to me. The course gave me an opportunity to navigate through my beliefs and gave me the tools to communicate my own deeply sincere take on concepts and principles. I always say what I think and the course gave me confidence to do so through designing.
Q. What are your design interests/strengths?
A. I acquired enough confidence to express my concepts into spaces, but at the same time I learned practical skills like keeping track of my time, invoicing, fee proposing, schedules, buisiness administration in general. Also construction and technology of buildings, materials, sustainibile sources and more.
Q. What space inspires you?
A. I like strong contrast and heights because they make me feel certain emotions that nothing else gives me. I am inspired and fascinated by poeple personalities and abilities and how nature and time express themselves through us. The user experience and perspective are something I believe must be central in every design.
Q. Who is your favourite designer?
A. I have not got a favourite designer but I like how people like Marcel Wanders and Fabio Novembre manage to translate from abstract to concrete, creating strong contrast and amazing spaces where I can clearly see that that’s the nearest representation of the vision they had.
Q. Where to from here?
A. I want to acquire knowledge, I got the most I could from this course and I want to live real company dynamics, I would like to range into all design fields, and I am more then motivated to learn and have an impact on our world with the conciousness that I need to learn from other designers more experienced then me.
STUDY TIP - One advice I would give a new KLC student would be to be yourself and trust your instincts, everyone is unique, which means every design is original, but only if you are true to yourself and believe in what you have inside, you can express your originality and your true visions.
