Q. What was your background before KLC?
A. Prior to KLC I did a Fine Art Foundation Course then moved to Italy. I enrolled at the Florence Design Academy for the two-year Academic Interior Design Course.
Q. Why did you decide to study Interior Design?
A. I have always had a love for art and design. Yet it was when I moved to Italy, I truly found my interest, passion and curiosity for designing interior spaces.
Q. Tell us about your experience of the course?
A. The course has been eye opening. I have found a new love for commercial design. Designing for a post Covid19 workspace and a social issue in a grade two listed building has allowed me to face challenges and find solutions. The projects create a sense of what it will be like working in the industry. This has been made through the professional practice lectures and following the RIBA guidelines. I have also loved learning Revit, it's so much faster than AutoCAD and 3DSMax. It is like a two in one shampoo and conditioner!!
Q. What are your design interests/strengths?
A. I adore working on projects from concept to completion. I love creating spaces that is tailored to the client's needs and desires to improve their daily lives. I enjoy experimenting with spatial plans that create inclusive designs and picking out FF&E. I also believe it is more important now than ever to always consider sustainable options when designing any space. I love seeing the final outcome of a design and have the confidence in software skills which can illustrate this. I also find brainstorming with other designers not only fun but it broadens their and my horizons.
Q. What space inspires you?
A. Inspiration is all around us, from beautiful spaces to ugly spaces yet it is up to us how we see it and use it.
Q. Who is your favourite designer?
A. I think it's difficult to pick just one as there are so many, however I love the work of India Madhavi.
Q. Where to from here?
A. From here I aim to use and develop my skills I have learnt at both KLC and the Florence Design Academy to create beautiful spaces for all.
