Q. What was your background before KLC?
A: I was a Practice Nurse before taking a career break to raise my 3 sons.

Q. Why did you decide to study Interior Design?
A: I have always been passionate about transformation of spaces and I almost enrolled on this course before starting my family. Now that they are more independent, I felt the right time had finally arrived to pursue my passion.

Q. Tell us about the experience of the course?
A: It has been wonderful to meet such a talented and fun group of people who have now become great friends. The course teaches you such a wide range of different skills, including creativity, technical know-how and communication. I have learnt so much more than I thought I would and am amazed at what my laptop can do! It's great that the course is so flexible as I was able to complete the projects in time despite my hectic family life.

Q. What are your design interests/strengths?
A: I really love spacial planning and finding solutions to tricky spaces to maximise their potential. I am also passionate about sustainable design and supporting craftsmanship.

Q. What space inspires you?
A: My travels in India have really stuck with me. The colours, street food, ancient buildings, patterns and hand block, linen prints are all just stunning.

Q. Who is your favourite designer?
A: I don't have one specific favourite. I appreciate everything from John Minshaw's architectural sensitivity, Rose Uniacke's understated elegance to Rachel Chudley's use of art as inspiration.

Q. Where to from here?
A: I would love to work in residential or commercial design as part of a team, and develop further the skills and knowledge that I have learnt to date.

STUDY TIP - Invest time in getting to know your group and start a WhatsApp group. I have learnt so much from my peers and they have provided invaluable support, friendship and advice throughout. Between us, someone normally has the know-how! Trish Dixon
