What were you doing before KLC and why did you decide to study at the school?
I was in private banking before, but always passionate about interior design. Once I had the funds, I immediately decided to try to get into the field. Got accepted by KLC and University of the Arts in London. Decided to go with KLC as the program seemed comprehensive and challenging to me.
Can you identify some of the highlights and challenges of your time at KLC?
Even though I was in theatrical groups before and was not afraid of the stage, I really struggled with public speech and peaching the projects. Plus, English is not my first language and I was really shy at first. By the time of my final project, I got a round of applause at the presentation. That was pretty much my personal highlight. Also, the number of successful designers who came and tutored was extraordinary. Some of them truly inspired me and I was able to take in many useful things.
How has your career evolved since graduating?
I got into the marketing department at Vitra as a trainee first and was able to plan exhibitions like IMM in Cologne, Stockholm Design Week, etc., Showcases at Munich Airport Terminal and Vitra showrooms all over the world. Later I moved to Vitra to do office planning for leading companies and did the retail environments for Switzerland later on. After having a little baby girl, I’ve decided to use my time wisely and start working as a freelancer.
What kind of projects have you been working on recently?
My recent project is an old spinning factory on Lake Zürich converted into loft apartments. Originally one big space, the factory floor had to be partitioned to accommodate a family while retaining a loft atmosphere and layout.
