What were you doing before KLC and why did you decide to study at the school?

Before studying with KLC I was working in the hospitality industry in various hotels and travel agencies but I always had passion for beautiful interiors, design and art. Although I truly enjoyed working with people and meeting every day guests from all over the world, I always wanted to do something more creative in my life. Finally at the age of 26 I enrolled in the Open Learning Diploma course with KLC.

Can you identify some of the highlights and challenges of your time at KLC?

It took me 5 years to complete the course and the main challenges were to put discipline into studies. Doing the course at your own pace is great and gives lots of freedom and flexibility, but at times it was really challenging to stay motivated and keep good track on studies.

How has your career evolved since graduating?

After graduating I set up my own business initially in Moscow, Russia and one year ago I moved to Spain, Marbella. Now I work on projects for both countries. In 2012 I also set up my interior design blog L'Essenziale which became a significant part of the income for my business and also a place where I share my daily source of inspiration.

What kind of projects have you been working on recently?

I currently work on several residential projects in Moscow and Marbella and also 1 commercial project in Spain. One apartment that I have recently completed in Moscow was featured in various magazine publications around the world, including America, Portugal, Singapore and India.

What advice would you give anyone starting out in the industry?

Putting together nice portfolio and website is very important - that’s what most of the clients will look at. Marketing and networking is crucial as well - connecting with real estate agents, developers and also getting published in various editions (online and offline) helps to get consistent flow of clients.
