Blended Learning Diploma Interior Design -

Sarah Lindsey

Interior Designer

"It was like going through boot camp! It has been very thorough and not only does it allow you to learn new skills for the design industry, for me I have learnt a lot about myself as a person and built up confidence."

What was your background before KLC?
Before KLC, I had slowed up my jewellery design business to take on the restoration of a listed farm house along with its farm building complex. I enjoyed the challenge of project management so much; I decided a vocation change was needed.

Why did you decide to study Interior Design?
There is something quite special about being able to design an environment, as it has a huge impact on the way we feel and use a space, but they also end up shaping us too. I really love how Interior Design is a multi-faceted job & I can wear many hats, I enjoy everything from getting technical to getting hands being creative.

What did you think of the course?
Challenging! It was like going through boot camp! It has been very thorough and not only does it allow you to learn new skills for the design industry, I have learnt a lot about myself as a person and built up confidence.

What are your design interests/strengths?
Hmmm, interests is a tough one, can I say everything?!? As I said previously, the multi facets of the job allow you to have an appreciation for everything. If I had to name just a couple of design interests, being a jewellery designer I have an appreciation and interest in new craftsmen & women creating new products and hearing the story of how their products evolved. My strengths … Being proactive and self-disciplined and pragmatic, I’ll give anything a go.

What space best represents you?
Oh, that’s a tough one! Probably something along the lines of a modern rustic kitchen: My old soul meets modern times and there’s plenty to do and in a kitchen too!

What are your plans for the future?
I know it sounds cliché, but the most important thing is; to enjoy life doing things I love. I have no set plans and I will see where my path takes me.  I like the idea of setting up my own design studio in the future.  In the mean time, I would love to be part of a team, loving what I am doing every day.
