Interior Designer
What was your background before KLC?
Before I studied at KLC, I worked in brand design and advertising which followed my first degree studying Art & Design at Leeds University.
Why did you decide to study Interior Design?
Interior Design is something I have always been interested in and following my degree where I specifically worked in sculpture and installation, I looked further into 3D design and explored interiors.
What did you think of the course?
The experience has been truly enriching. I can't quite believe and didn't expect to learn as much as I have done on the course in such a short space of time. It's an intense course, but one I would recommend if you have no initial knowledge of interior design practice previously.
What are your design interests/strengths?
I can't say I am hugely swayed by one particular area of design, however I lean more toward the hospitality and commerical sector. My main strengths are within hand drawing and sketching and using this to play a key part in my design development.
What space best represents you?
Perhaps because I'm familiar with it, but as a space, the Tate will always inspire me. It's a building that's enriched with such strong history combined with an interior that's always changing. I love visiting and seeing how the space changes each time!
Who is your favourite designer?
My favourite designer is Sophie Ashby. I loved her work already but she came and did a talk here at KLC and I was so interested in how her designs are completely inspired from her upbringing of all the places she has lived and how the location and surroundings play such a key role in her design.
Where to from here?
I have built up a sound knowledge of the interior design industry during this course which I plan to keep building on and eventually turn into a career working with a design practice.
