Name: Roshani Patel
Course: Diploma HE Applied Interior Design
Q. What was your background before KLC?
A: Previously having graduated with a Business Computing & IT degree, I went on to work in virtual reality for an immersive theatre start-up. It was an exciting experience that taught me a lot about the creative industry and increased my awareness of spatial design. After realising my interest in interior design, I later went on to work for an interior designer as a project assistant.
Q. Why did you decide to study Interior Design?
A: I have always been interested in design and the more I travelled, the more my interest grew. I became more fascinated in the impact a space can have on our emotions and well-being, and particularly the impact of nature and culture within interiors.
Q. What did you think of the course?
A: Since starting this course, I have come a long way in broadening my knowledge of interior design both conceptually and practically. The course has changed the way I view things from a design perspective and has allowed me to learn new software skills such as CAD, as well as advancing my existing creative adobe skills.
Q. Where to from here?
A: I am looking to work as a junior designer for an interior design studio to gain further practical experience. I am particularly interested in design that considers well-being, nature and sustainability, and am eager to broaden my knowledge in this area.
STUDY TIP - Enjoy it and be willing to get out of your comfort zone. It’s a beautiful journey and you'll be surprised with how far you've come by the end of it. Try and keep an open mind when approaching projects and take risks creatively. That way, you'll not only learn more about design, but also about yourself. Roshani Patel
